A civilization of sentient species can be categorized into the following levels.

  • No significant civilization:
  • Pre-industrial:
  • Industrial level 1: Pre-space flight
  • Industrial level 2: Space flight
  • Advanced level 1: No extra planetary exploitation
  • Advanced level 2: Outpost or colonies on moons within home world-moon system
  • Advanced level 3: Outpost or colonies on planets within home solar system
  • Advanced level 4: Intersteller spaceflight (FLT)
  • Advanced level 5: Outpost or colonies on outside home solar system
